Attempting to decipher the happenings within the insectuous contents of 'The Story of Gardens' by Kuba Woynarowski, is a task in itself unless you're an imaginative creature. The seemingly life-giving orange bubble adventures through various scenarios almost reminiscent of the Babybel commercials - instead this environment blackened with attitude has a much more sinister appeal about it.
Nevertheless, I enjoy searching through the rubble nestling a baby doll, plastic bottles, tyres, drain pipes, all delicately drawn into an inky camouflage.
The busy illustrations are almost as visually pleasing as the more simplistic representations. I think I prefer the latter. Either way - the graphic novel style visuals are beautiful.
